Last Month’s Question:

Question:

Which March Holiday is your favourite, and why?

Student Write-In (Mariana- Brazil):

“My favourite March holiday is Women’s Day, because there is a lot of history about women’s struggles for social rights, labour rights, respect, equal pay, and voting rights. However, there was a sad event related to this history where about 130 weavers died, charred in a factory, on 8th March 1857. And it is because of this day which we honour women.”

Staff Write-In (Abbi):

“My favourite holiday in March is St.Patrick’s Day because I am Irish and for me it is a celebration of my culture, its people and sharing everything I hold dear with my friends and loved ones. From enjoying Irish traditional music, some good drinks (responsibly of course) and sharing the culture to connect with others!

I do have to say also that Pancake Tuesday is just a smidgen behind because I love great food, especially pancakes!”

Staff Write-In (Gwyn):

“My favourite holiday in March is Women’s Day. Although I don’t do anything special to celebrate, I always appreciate the opportunity to learn and think about the important women who have shaped the world, and to see how women’s rights are progressing around the world.”
