How live online English classes work

Three steps. You can do the first one right now.

1

Reserve your place

Two minutes, and you pay nothing today. Your first payment of £79 is taken on 5 October, the day classes start. You do not need to know your level yet.

2

Take your placement test

We email it to you as soon as you join. Twenty minutes online, and it tells us which of our four class groups is right for you — A1/A2, B1, B2 or C1+.

3

Start your classes

Twice a week on Google Meet, in the UK evening, with students at your own level. The next course begins Monday 5 October, and after that on the first Monday of every month, with materials and homework in Google Classroom in between.

If we cannot place you in a class within 30 days, we refund you in full. You are never left paying for a class that has not started.

Online English course: your questions answered

If yours isn't here, message us on WhatsApp — we reply the same day.

Do I need to take a test before I join?

No. Join first. We send you the placement test as soon as you have signed up, and you take it before your first class. It takes about twenty minutes.

What if the placement test shows no class is right for me?

Then we refund you in full. You are only placed in a group that genuinely fits your level, and if we cannot do that within 30 days you get your money back.

How many hours a week is it?

Two hours — two live classes of 60 minutes each, both in the UK evening. There is homework and material in Google Classroom between lessons.

Do I get a discount on your other courses?

Yes, once you have paid for three months of online classes. After that you pay 10% less for one-to-one lessons, for General English here in Huddersfield, and for our summer school — whether that is for you or for your child.

It stays open while you are studying with us and for 90 days after your last online payment, so you can finish the online course and still book a face-to-face course at the lower price. After 90 days it ends. The discount comes off our published price.

Do I need a visa?

No. You study from home, wherever you are in the world. No visa, no flight, no accommodation to arrange.

What if my time zone is different?

Our classes run in the UK evening, which works across most of the countries our students come from — 7pm in the UK is 9pm in Istanbul, 10pm in Riyadh and 4pm in São Paulo. Tell us where you are and we will confirm the timings before you commit.

What do I need to join?

A reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and somewhere reasonably quiet. We use Google Meet for classes and Google Classroom for materials — both are free and we will help you set them up.

What happens if I miss a class?

Tell your teacher and they will make sure you have the materials and homework so you can catch up. If you miss several we will check in — that is what the small class sizes are for.

What if I want more than two classes a week?

Add one-to-one lessons alongside your group class — we build those around exactly what you need. If you can come to Huddersfield, our in-person General English courses run 15 or 22.5 hours a week.

Can I change level if the class is too easy or too hard?

Yes. The placement test is a good guide but not infallible. Speak to your teacher in the first two weeks and we will move you — at no extra cost.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes — an end-of-course report and a certificate of completion from a British Council accredited school.

Can I cancel?

Any time, with 14 days' notice. There is no long contract and no cancellation fee.

Is this the same as your Huddersfield courses?

Same school, same qualified teachers, same accreditation. The in-person course is more hours per week and includes everything that comes with being here — but if you cannot travel to the UK, this is the closest thing to it.

Reserve your place, and we will find your level

You do not need to know your English level before you reserve. Take the placement test we send you, and we will put you in the right class before classes begin on 5 October. If we cannot place you within 30 days, you get your money back.
