How it works

Choose Route 1 (pay in full, with refund protection) or Route 2 (pay a small fixed fee now and the rest after your visa is granted). The steps are the same for both.

  1. Choose your route and apply Fill in the form below, upload the photo page of your passport, and pay either your full fees (Route 1) or the fixed visa fee (Route 2).
  2. We check your application A member of our team reviews it, usually within one working day. If anything is missing, we contact you.
  3. We send your letters Your Letter of Acceptance and Course Confirmation are emailed to you, signed by our Director of Studies.
  4. You apply for your visa Processing usually takes 3 to 8 weeks, though that is decided by UK Visas and Immigration, not by us.
  5. Visa granted — you pay the balance Route 2 students pay the remaining fees before the course starts. We then send your pre-arrival information.

What you pay

There are two ways to pay. Figures below use a 12-week General English course (15 hours a week, £170 a week). Other courses and lengths are calculated on your booking.

Route 2 is for courses of exactly 12, 24 or 36 weeks. With accommodation, the visa fee is £290 (12 weeks), £410 (24 weeks) or £530 (36 weeks). Example: on a 12-week General English course you pay £230 now and £1,860 after your visa is granted (£2,040 course fees + £50 materials − £230).

⚠️ Please read this before you pay

Route 2: the visa fee is non-refundable, even if your visa is refused or you change your mind.

Route 1: if your visa is refused, we refund all fees except the £120 administration fee (and the accommodation administration fee of £60 per 12 weeks, if you booked accommodation with us).

For any refund we need a copy of your official UK Visas and Immigration refusal letter. Bank charges are paid by the student.

✅ One re-application included (Route 2)

If your first visa application is refused, you can apply once more. We re-issue your letters and your visa fee carries over, so you do not pay it again. If the second application is also refused, the fee is not refunded.

Other fees: course materials £50 per 12 weeks · accommodation administration £60 per 12 weeks · airport transfer from £100.

Who this is for

  • You are 18 or over
  • You want to study full time for 12, 24 or 36 weeks
  • You need a UK visa to study here
  • You want to secure your place before paying the full fees (Route 2), or you want maximum refund protection (Route 1)

Studying for less than 12 weeks, or a different length? Contact us and we will tell you honestly which route suits you.

Which visa do I need?

In general, it depends on how long you study. The rules are set by UK Visas and Immigration, so always check the official GOV.UK guidance before you apply.

  • 12 weeks to 6 months: a Standard Visitor visa. Some nationalities do not need a visa for this and apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) instead.
  • More than 6 months, up to 11 months: a Short-term study visa for English language courses.
  • Degree or longer courses: a Student visa, which needs a licensed sponsor. We are not a Student visa sponsor and cannot issue a CAS.

Our letters support Standard Visitor and Short-term study visa applications. See our Pre-Arrival Information for what to prepare before you travel.

What you will receive

  • Letter of Acceptance — confirming your place, your course dates, and exactly what you have paid and what remains outstanding
  • Course Confirmation — your programme, hours, level and timetable
  • Accommodation Confirmation — only if you have booked accommodation with us

All letters are signed by our Director of Studies. Yorkshire English School is accredited by the British Council, a member of English UK, approved by ASIC (AS56797/0318), and a Trinity College SELT approved service provider.

Visa and payment questions

Which route should I choose?

Route 1 costs more upfront, but almost everything is refunded if your visa is refused. Route 2 costs much less upfront, but the visa fee is not refunded.

Is the Route 2 visa fee refundable?

No. It is non-refundable, even if your visa is refused or you change your mind. Once your visa is granted, it is taken off your course fees. If your first application is refused, you can apply once more without paying it again.

What do I need to get a refund on Route 1?

A copy of the official refusal letter from UK Visas and Immigration. We refund all fees except the £120 administration fee (and the accommodation administration fee of £60 per 12 weeks, if booked). Bank charges are paid by the student.

Will this guarantee my visa?

No. No school can guarantee a visa, and you should be cautious of any that suggests otherwise. We provide accurate documents; the decision is made entirely by UK Visas and Immigration.

How long does visa processing take?

Allow 3 to 8 weeks. Timing varies by country and season.

What does the letter say about payment?

Exactly what you have paid: your total fees, what we have received, and the balance still to pay. We never describe a payment as made when it has not been.

Can I book 18 or 30 weeks?

Route 2 is only for courses of 12, 24 or 36 weeks. For other lengths, choose Route 1 or contact us.

What about courses under 12 weeks?

This page is for courses of 12 weeks or more. Contact us and we will help you find the right option.

Do I have to book accommodation through you?

No. It is optional. We work with trusted providers, but you are free to arrange your own.

Can you advise me on my visa application?

No. We are a language school, not immigration advisers. Please use the official GOV.UK guidance or a qualified adviser.
